American track star Jesse Owens won 4 Gold medals at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, with Adolf Hitler watching, dispelling Nazi propaganda about Aryan superiority.

 

Also in 1936, American boxer Joe Louis became the first black man in more than 30 years permitted to fight for the heavyweight championship of the world. "The Brown Bomber's" victory against Germany's Max Schmelling served another blow to Hitler's claims of Aryan superiority.

 

 And, in 1947, American baseball player, Jackie Robinson, broke Major League Baseball's color barrier, marking the end of racial segregation in professional baseball which for nearly 70 years had relegated Black players to the Negro leagues.
